The holiday season isn’t just about shopping or spending time with friends and family; it’s also about giving. In that spirit, we’re dedicating this post to three of our favorite local charitable organizations.
If you’re trying to find a cause to support this holiday season, we highly recommend donating your money or time to one of these. Not only does giving back feel good, donations might also be eligible as a tax deduction!
Hawaiian Hope. Hawaiian Hope is a 100% volunteer organization whose mission is to bring technology and computer literacy to low-income communities. In 2017, Hawaiian Hope donated over 2,000 computers to families all over the islands, helping educate students and their parents alike. To learn more about the organization’s efforts, click here.
Mauli Ola Foundation. The Mauli Ola Foundation is dedicated to helping kids with cystic fibrosis. Each year, it connects boys and girls suffering from the condition with professional surfers, providing encouragement, positivity, and memories that last a lifetime. The organization is able to continue thanks to support from individuals like you. Learn more here.
Hawaii Foodbank. Hawaii is a beautiful and bountiful place, but not everyone who lives here has access to three meals a day. Hawaii Foodbank serves 287,000 Hawaiians every year, providing nutrition and sustenance for men, women, and children. Volunteering at one of their hubs or donating unwanted canned foods can go a long way in providing for those who are less fortunate. Learn more about the Hawaii Foodbank here.
This is by no means a comprehensive list of local charitable organizations. Support a cause that’s near and dear to your heart this holiday season. Your kindness has a ripple effect and will positively impact others.
